About Bb. Pilipinas 2026

Bb. Pilipinas, short for Binibining Pilipinas, is without question the most culturally significant and passionately followed beauty pageant in the Philippines, and one of the most important national pageant competitions in the world. Run by Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI), the pageant simultaneously crowns multiple titleholders who go on to represent the Philippines at the world's biggest international competitions including Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Supranational.

Pageant culture in the Philippines is unlike anywhere else on Earth. Coronation Night draws television audiences in the tens of millions and dominates national conversation for weeks. Pageant fans are organised, vocal, and deeply knowledgeable, tracking candidates from their earliest auditions through live coronation night broadcasts. Social media engagement during the Philippines' major pageant events rivals election night coverage.

The selection process begins with open applications nationwide, followed by screening events that whittle thousands of applicants down to a national pool. Candidates undergo months of preparation and training at the BPCI compound, developing their stage walk, interview skills, advocacy platforms, and physical presentation under expert guidance. The grand Coronation Night at the Araneta Coliseum or similar iconic venues is a major national broadcast event, with a full-length production that showcases evening gown, swimwear, national costume, and the final question segment.

The Philippines has an extraordinary international record. The country has won Miss Universe four times (Gloria Diaz 1969, Margie Moran 1973, Pia Wurtzbach 2015, Catriona Gray 2018), achieved top placements at Miss World and Miss International, and earned global respect for sending consistently polished, articulate, and competitive delegates. Bb. Pilipinas is the engine behind all of this international success.

How to Apply

Visit the official Bb. Pilipinas website at biningpilipinas.com to find the current application form and timeline. Applications typically open months before the screening events. Candidates must be Filipino citizens aged 18 to 26, never married, and not currently pregnant. Shortlisted candidates are invited to a national screening event in Metro Manila. From there, official candidates are announced and enter a months-long preparation programme culminating in the Coronation Night. Candidates from all regions of the Philippines are encouraged to apply, including those from Mindanao, the Visayas, and Luzon.

History

Bb. Pilipinas was established in 1964 by Stella Marquez Araneta and has been run by Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. since its founding. The pageant gained immediate national importance and grew into a cultural institution. The Philippines' first Miss Universe title came through Gloria Diaz in 1969, just five years after BPCI's founding, cementing the organisation's status. The Araneta family's involvement provided institutional stability and the resources to build a world-class preparation programme. Decades of refinement have produced a national selection system widely regarded as one of the most rigorous and effective in international pageantry.
